What are Tailored Tours™?
Tailored Tours are self-guided sightseeing tours delivered as e-mail attachments that you can print out or upload to a PDA or cell phone. Each tour includes a route map and 2 or 3 pages of commentary, restaurant and activity recommendations, and photos.



How do I use TailoredTours.com™?
First, select a category from the Tour Categories page. Browse through the tours in that category and, when you find an itinerary you like, click on the "Add to Cart" button. From there, you can keep shopping or check out.

When you're done shopping, click "Checkout" from the Shopping Cart page and enter your credit card and billing details for payment. TailoredTours.com™ accepts Visa and Mastercard, and the personal information you give us is used solely to complete your transaction.

Once your payment is confirmed, the tours you purchased are delivered instantly as Portable Document Format (PDF) e-mail attachments. Simply detach the tours to your computer, then you can print them out or upload them to a PDF-compatible mobile device.



Do I need any special software to use Tailored Tours™?
Tailored Tours are PDF (Portable Document Format) files. A PDF file reader is required to open, view and print all Tailored Tours™ and tour bundles. Although you can use any PDF file reader program, most computers and many mobile devices already come pre-loaded with Adobe Reader®. If you don't have Adobe Reader®, it's easy and free to download off the Internet. Just go to the Adobe Reader® downloads page and follow the instructions to download and install Adobe Reader® on your computer. Click here for more information regarding the PDF file format. NOTE: If you are uploading Tailored Tours to a mobile device, please also read the FAQ entry below.



How do I use Tailored Tours on my cell phone or PDA?
As long as your mobile device is equipped with PDF reader software (see above), using Tailored Tours on your PDA is as easy as viewing any other type of uploaded document. To upload tours, follow the instructions for your mobile device. During the upload process, you may receive a pop-up window advising that the file is an "untagged PDF." This is a minor issue relating to disabled-user accessibility that will not impact the usability of your tours. Click OK. Depending on the type of mobile device and size of the device's screen, the route map page may be difficult to read. If your mobile device is not equipped with a zoom function, the turn-by-turn directions included on the itinerary pages will be sufficient to guide you along the tour route.



Can Tailored Tours be infected with computer viruses or spyware?
Tailored Tours are PDF (Portable Document Format) files, which do not carry computer viruses or other malicious code that could harm your computer. Furthermore, Tailored Tours are checked for viruses during publication and again when they are transmitted via e-mail to a customer.



Why does each tour have a duration range?
The duration of each tour depends on your pace and the restaurant and activity suggestions that you partake in. Tailored Tours that have a wide duration range are usually those that include multiple suggested activities.



Does the duration of each tour include travel time to and from the tour route?
The duration provided for each tour is only an estimate, and does not include transport time to the starting point, or from the end point, of the tour.



I haven't received the tours that I ordered. What should I do?
Once payment is confirmed, all orders are sent out immediately as e-mail attachments. However, depending on your e-mail system and the speed of your Internet connection, it can take up to thirty minutes for you to receive the delivery e-mail.

You may be able to expedite the delivery process by manually checking for new mail every few minutes. Some mail systems route e-mails from unknown senders directly to Spam or Trash folders, so be sure to check these folders in your e-mail account as well.

CABLEVISION OPTIMUM ONLINE CUSTOMERS: We have identified an issue specific to this e-mail system that results in delays of up to 24 hours in the receipt of TailoredTours.com™ order delivery e-mails. We are investigating the problem and will update this entry if and when it is resolved.


I ordered several tours, but the delivery e-mail only included one. Where are the rest of my tours?
Most e-mail systems have an e-mail file size limit of around five megabytes, and will automatically reject messages with attachments that exceed that limit. While each Tailored Tour™ is only about 600 kilobytes in size, sending multiple tours in a single e-mail could exceed the limit. To avoid this problem, and also to allow for easier handling by the recipient, we deliver each Tailored Tour™ as an attachment in a separate e-mail.



How can I obtain a license to redistribute or use Tailored Tours for commercial purposes?
TailoredTours.com™ can provide tours in bulk to corporate customers at a substantial savings. Contact us for more information. Redistribution or other commercial use of Tailored Tours™ without the express written consent of TailoredTours.com™ is prohibited. Please read our Privacy Policy and User Agreement for more information.



How do I get a refund?
As you can imagine, once your Tailored Tours have been delivered, we have no way of knowing when, how or even if they were used. For that reason, all sales on TailoredTours.com are final, and we are not able to offer refunds or store credits for any reason.

To help you avoid buying tours you won't be able to use due to inclement weather, check the weather forecast (try Weather.com) before you purchase Tailored Tours™ for your visit.

To avoid not getting full use of your tours due to the closure of sights featured in the tours, we recommend checking with sights that are high on your "must see" list in advance to ensure that they're open during your visit. Once you've purchased your Tailored Tours™, you can do this easily by reviewing the tours on your computer before printing them out or uploading them to a mobile device. The web links included in most Tailored Tours™ will take you instantly to the website of select points of interest for the most up-to-date information on hours/days of operation and admission fees.

Finally, we are unfortunately not able to offer refunds due to errors in our tours. Every Tailored Tour goes through a four-step quality control review to ensure that it is completely accurate and error-free. However, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the route map, directions or any other aspect of the tours. We do suggest that you cross-reference the turn-by-turn directions with the tour route laid out in the route map, to help ensure that you're on the right track.
